My sporting adventure started well with national championships in cyclocross and hill climbing back in the 70s, a spell riding for the GB cyclocross team, and a few multi-stage European races representing Southern England. Unfortunately it was all down hill from then until the last decade when I got back into mountain biking with a few top 10 age group placings in the Southern Area Championships and started time trailing again with the Gillingham Wheelers. A few years ago a mid (or late!) life crisis found me having a go at triathlons and I absolutly loved it from the first one. Having joined the Wizards 2 years ago, and getting such a warm and encouraging reception from everyone in the club, I am slowly working up through the
distances to my first full ironman, Lanzorote May 2013, having completed the Lanzorote 70.3
with Donna (Chair) and other club members in 2012.

Julie represented Dorset twice at junior level in the National cross country championships. On leaving school, I concentrated on badminton and competed in local leagues for over 25 years. I then came back to running having been persuaded to take part in the Commando Challenge in Exmouth by office colleagues! I competed in my first sprint triathlon 7 years ago and joined the Wessex Wizzards in 2008. She is highly qualified from her position of club secretary with 70 wpm typing and 110 wpm shorthand!!!

Jody is our BTF level 2 Club Coach, he has been coaching with the Wessex Wizards for over 3 years. He has competed in a number of sports over the years including representing Somerset in swimming and Judo. He has competed in triathlon both in the UK and Europe. He has raced at all distances, but prefers Olympic distance!

Steve is our kit man, if its not colour co-ordinated he is not interested! But seriously, Steve is an accomplished sportsman having played Rugby Union for many years to a very high standard. Only turning his hand to Triathalon after breaking his arm. Steve had his first swiming lesson in 2007 and hasn't looked back since! Steve has completed 3 Ironman race, 4 half Ironmans and loads of other races at various distances.

Steve came back to Triathlon in 2006 after a 10 year lay-off. After qualifying for Xterra Worlds the Triathlon journey since has been relentless. One of the founder members
of the club, and an ever present committee member ever since.
