Welcome to the Wessex Wizards Triathlon Club
The Wessex Wizards was born from a small group of triathletes who started Open Water Swimming at Weymouth in September 2007. That group of eight has now become 100! Although relatively new compared to some clubs, we are ambitious and continue to grow. Our aim is to achieve the British Triathlon Federations STAR accreditation.
We have BTF qualified coaches for our swimming sessions, with group cycling, turbo training and circuit sessions for all levels.
We have developed a strong link with Yeovil Town Road Running Club, who allow Wizard members to train with them at their coached running sessions.
Our membership is open to all. We have a good mix of ages and ability. Members enjoy competing in all race lengths from sprints to Ironman. If you are interested in more information then please contact the club at: [email protected]

Lenthay Legend Jon Rowe, smashes the Brownsea Island Swim!
Something quite incredible happend this Sunday down at Brownsea Island.
236 competitors swam 4 miles around the island. "Sherborne swimming sensation" Jon Rowe was in the field and I'm sure he was a little bit nervous as the swim finally began at 9.45am. Talking to Jon before the swim he said he would be happy to complete the swim in under 3hrs or 2 hrs 30mins if everything went to plan. well the "lenthay legend" had nothing to worry about as he absolutely smashed his estimated times to storm home in a time of 1hr 44 mins & 49 secs!! Jon was 82nd overall and was 60th in the mens wetsuit category! this was an incredible performance really considering Jon has only been swimming seriously for just over a year now!! some people doubted whether Jon would do the swim or even complete it??!! How wrong they were as this incredibly talented all round athlete went on to easily complete the swim in a time in which seasoned swimmers would have been proud of!! well done Jon!!!
